78 Java Road is deeply inspired by the unique neighbourhood of North Point, Hong Kong, where cramped tong lau buildings sit packed shoulder to shoulder. While wandering through the streets at golden hour, I was inspired by the way the light and shadows spilled through the narrow alleyways and bamboo scaffolding, and wanted to capture that exact atmosphere on canvas.
